After a lot of searching and experimentation, the best option seems to be to host your own wink files. This allows you full access to them at all times if you should want to edit or delete them. There are several options for hosting your wink files for the purpose of displaying them on this board, e.g. you could host them on your own website, but this will cost you precious bandwidth. A simple, quick and easy, (and totally free) solution is for you to create an account at a web host such as SiteSled.com (this account can also be used to host any other FTP files). After signing up and verifying your email addy you can then go to your SiteSled File Manager, simply upload your three wink files (htm, .js, .swf) then right-click on the .swf file and select copy shortcut to get the download link (the files are available for use immediately) - that's all you need to do at SiteSled and it's all very intuitive but SiteSled have help forums if you get stuck. Note that SiteSled is a webhost and their terms of service require that you have a web site {you have 7 days to submit its URL to them} - if you don't already have a website, there are plenty of free ones such as flashbuilder.net or geocities available. Here is a summary of some of the things you get with a SiteSled webhosting account: 1) Free Personalized Web Address:
3) 1 Gig/Day Bandwidth w/ Usage Stats 4) No Max File Upload Restrictions 5) "Our offer to host your website for free is a lifetime offer. We do not use activity monitors or anything else to delete accounts" -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If I irradiate my cat will that give it eighteen half-lives?
The major part of getting the right answer lies in asking the right question... |
